MEET BILLY SPECHT
For two decades, Billy has called Titusville home. During this time, he has lived, worked, and played here, establishing a reputation as an engaged community leader. Now, he wants to represent the voices of the many people he’s come to know — and the many more that he looks forward to meeting during his time on the council.
Here’s what makes him the right candidate for the job:
LEADERSHIP EXPERIENCE
As general manager of The Great Outdoors RV & Golf Resort, Billy runs a community of over 1,600 homes, which is like managing a small city within itself. He oversees maintenance of the roads, sewer collection, potable water, stormwater runoff, and wastewater treatment. Additionally, he directs community safety and recreational amenities, including fitness programs, nature trails, a golf course, and a restaurant. He is ultimately responsible for preserving property values and ensuring a high quality of life for his residents. One of the aspects of his job that he enjoys the most is bringing out the best in his 140-person staff. “The key to our excellence is teamwork, communication, and leadership,” Billy says.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT
Titusville isn’t just the city where Billy and his family reside. It’s a beloved community where he actively contributes. For four years, Billy served on the Board of Directors for the Titusville Area Chamber of Commerce. During one of those years, Billy served as Chairman. Billy understands Titusville’s special connection to the Kennedy Space Center because he has lived it first-hand through his work as Director of Education of the KSC Visitor Complex. He also became more immersed in the community through his role as Executive Director of the Titusville YMCA. During his time there, he collaborated with other local leaders to strengthen our community, with a special focus on children and families. Today he serves as a volunteer Board Member for Parrish Medical Center, ensuring our hospital works hard to provide the best in healthcare to North Brevard.
FAMILY MAN
In everything Billy does, he’s 100 percent committed. His family life is no exception. For nearly 20 years, he’s been happily married to his wife Diana, who is a foreign language teacher at Titusville High School, and a graduate of UCF. They are also the proud parents of a teenage son, William, who is a Cadet Airman in our local Civil Air Patrol, and a freshman at Titusville High School. In his free time, Billy enjoys playing tennis, traveling, outdoor activities, home improvements, and spending time with family and friends.
EDUCATION
Education has always been important to Billy, He earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Queens University of Charlotte, and a master’s degree in business leadership and management from Webster University’s Space Coast campus. He is also a graduate of LEAD Brevard, and holds a Community Association Manager license from the State of Florida. He has completed advanced training and continual learning on topics such as fundraising, health and wellness, business communication, and leadership.
